Blog Plan FAQ
Welcome to the new blog plan forum! Considering how successful the forum plan FAQ has been, it's about time we started one for the blog plan. So, do you have questions regarding our blog hosting
service? Post them here and we'll provide answers and build on them as more info becomes available.
Here's a couple common questions to get things started...
Q. How long does it take to setup my blog?
A. Once you signup and start your subscription (est. 3 minutes), your blog will be immediately installed and configured. You may login and start
posting right away.
Q. I've never blogged before. Is it difficult?
A. Posting to a blog is as simple as sending an email. Using the "write" control panel, you type in a title, then type in your message and click the
"publish" button. That's it! The new post is instantly added to your site. The system software does everything else (ie. archiving past articles
etc.).

Do I need to download any software to have a blog or can I log into your site and update it?
Also, I don't want any advertisements on my blog and I only want my friends and family to read my blog. Is this possible?

You do not need to download or install any software, it is all online so you may update your site from any computer that is connected to the Web. The
control panel allows you to post new entries, edit old ones, add photos, manage guest comments and change the blog's theme. Updates are unlimited and
can be made anytime day or night.
We NEVER include advertising on our member sites! Our blog and forum service is 100% ad-free!
Regarding privacy: The Web is public domain so it is not possible to guarantee that no one else will ever read your blog, but you may turn off the
pinging features for added privacy. As long as other websites do not link your blog (friends website or forums), it should remain relatively private.

Login to your control panel. Using the "Upload" section of the "Write" page, browse for the image file on your computer hard drive, CD or digital
camera and upload it to the server. A thumbnail image will appear in the upload section.
Next, click on the image to see a list of links, then click on the "send to editor" link. This should add your image info to the "Post" field
(where you type in the text of your post). Fill in the rest of your post and click the "Publish" button.
We recommend using images with small file sizes to speed the loading of your blog page.

Here is a great question that was asked on the Forum FAQ. We felt it was worth reposting here. Note: For relevancy, we've changed the word "forum"
to "blog".
Q. I've noticed there are some free blog hosts out there. Why would I pay for your service instead?
A. First of all, nothing is for free! Free blog hosts make their money from your site visitors by running advertisements of their choice on your site.
For some, this may be alright, but for those who care about the look and feel of their site, having the top few inches of screen space dedicated to
advertising for someone else is not desirable.
Secondly, most free blog hosts are not actually hosting companies, but someone running a pay-per-click advertising business. They buy hosting space
from someone else - most likely the lowest priced volume host or reseller. If something goes wrong with your site, your "host" likely has to pass
your help ticket onto their host (or their reseller's host) to get the problem fixed. I won't bother getting into server quality here... you can
imagine.
Some free blog hosts provide the option to remove their ads for a fee. I've seen this fee as high as $25 per month to remove all ads. Some even
charge a one-time installation fee of up to $10. Most require a minimum of members or posts-per-month. Otherwise they remove your blog.
How are we different? Mad Moose Hosting is first and foremost a hosting company. Our priority is our servers and our web services. We run new, fast,
stable servers and are the first line of defense in case of trouble. We care about the speed, look and privacy of our member sites. We will NEVER
place any advertisements on member forums or blogs!
We also employ several experienced programmers who maintain our forum and blog systems and regularly install custom upgrades to make these packages
more interesting and interactive. We take pride in the quality and performance of our services and enjoy working with our members who recommend
improvements.
We backup the data and files daily, constantly monitor the service for signs of misuse, regularly upgrade the program scripts and provide free
customer service. Not to mention, unlimited posting, unlimited registered users, unlimited discspace and no minimum posting limit. Plus NO ads, NO
set-up fees, NO hidden charges.
For all this and more, we charge $5.95 per month and offer a 30 day money-back guarantee. Start a blog today and give us a try!
